Day 13 ~ Think Positive!

Today's Thoughts:  UGH!! I feel like I have hit a brick wall!   I feel as if I am holding back.. When I'm not.  Not cheating... no sweets or chocolates... nothing!!!  I can't believe it!

Today I worked out for an hour in the morning - made sure I got it out of the way.  And then did more laundry and housework for an additional five hours.  It is almost 10:00pm and this is the first chance I have had to sit down- and I'm writing!

I don't know what to say... what has changed lately?  The only thing I can think of is that I have gotten busier and have not taken the time out to eat.  Today I missed lunch.  I am not cheating on my diet... and with the exception of yesterday, I have worked out every day.

Day 12 Weight:          173.5 lbs.
Day 13 Weight:          173.9 lbs.
Weight Lost:                +0.4 lbs.
Weight Lost To Date:      2.5 lbs.
Weight Left to Loose:    13.2 lbs.

Wii Fit Age:  43
Today's Exercise:  one hour
My workout included: Free Step - 30 mins (2,978 steps),  Free Step - 30 mins (2,996 steps)
Burned 1,412 calories - the equivalent of 7oz Spaghetti 3.5oz meatballs(600 calories) and 9oz Salmon (380 calories)  The calories burned include calories burned with activity outside of wii recorded in my Activity Log.
Water Intake:  4 - 16oz bottles of water

Breakfast:  Triple Berry/Banana Smoothie
Snack:  - -
Lunch:  today is all messed up!  somehow... I  missed lunch?!  Had a bunch of errands, and time got away from me.
Snack:   celery stalk with peanut butter
Dinner:  Chicken Caesar salad and ice tea. (and so it begins.. eating out... I can't believe I never took a bite of pizza!!- I am speechless!

Today's Summary:  I didn't gain a pound... but I still gained a little.  NOT HAPPY!!!  I know I am not reaching my goal in the amount of time I set out to ... one thing has changed... I'm not as young as I used to be!
I am going to remain positive and not give up.  If anything, I have to be strong in the next couple of weeks... we will be visiting with out of town family and friends and you know what that means!?!  Food, food, food, desert, wine, food, food, appetizers, wine, food and more food...

I will remain strong!  Stay positive... tomorrow is another day and I will continue to work harder!!!  I am going to continue living, exercising and cooking healthy!

Tomorrow Goal's:  Tomorrow should be a great day... the last quiet day for a couple of weeks!  I will soak up time on my wii... and venge forward!,

Cooking Tip of the Day:  For more flavor and less fat when cooking with chicken thighs... remove the skins and rinse the chicken.  Take a fork and stab each thigh several times on each side and place them in a gallon storage bag.  Prepare your favorite marinade inside the bag with the chicken, close the bag.  I like to let the chicken marinade at minimal from 9:00am for eight hours ... grill!

Health Tip of the Day: Staying positive is great for the mind, body and soul!

I am not a doctor or a dietitian, and am not promoting for you to follow "my 21-day challenge."  I do however advise you to consult your physician before exercise or dieting.  This is for my own personal gain (or loss) and not affiliated with wii in any way.  wii is not paying me for this.

Day 10 ~ I Can Do It... I Will Do It!!!

Today's Thoughts:  This morning when I woke up, well let's just say it wasn't pretty.  I was so tired! Soooo... I  d r a g g e d my tush out of bed, and somehow prepared smoothies for both Calley and I.  It's still very unclear as to how it all went down.  But I did it!!.. took glucose health and my slimmetry (half hour before eating), the Rhodiola, which I prayed it would kick in fast (this gives me energy ALL day!) and before the thought of "not feeling like working out" came into play!.

Moving slow at first, and in a fog, and after having had my smoothie, taking my double x and carb blocker,  I forced my self to not think about the fact that I needed to kick it up a notch... I needed to at least work out an hour and a half.  I needed to do a lot of cardio in hopes that I can crank up the weight loss, after all I need to loose ten pounds in the next eleven days.  BUT before any of that could happen.... I had to sweep my floors!!!  (which counts on my mii Activity Log for burning calories).  We have four dogs and there's no way on this green earth I am going to work out on a dirty floor!!!  (1500sq.ft. gets swept everyday!)

When I was finally done sweeping, I did not allow myself to give it a second thought, and I worked out!

It sure is a great feeling when you finish working out, knowing you had to talk yourself into not thinking about it in the first place!

I want to repeat myself.  I feel comfortable doing my 21-day challenge for myself. However, I do not recommend you doing your own challenge without FIRST seeing your doctor.

I know my strengths and weaknesses and use only the exercises that best suite me.  Currently I am in "loose weight" mode, therefore heavy cardio is needed for this instance.  I am trying to tone my arms as I go, by using two and half pound weights.  I do not want to build muscle at this point, (I need to loose weight first) but I do not want full on FLABBY arms either.

wii Fit Plus Tip of the Day:  Elaborating on the "stepping on the balance board gingerly".  Every computer has its individual "quirks", and with that in mind, so do the balance boards.  I get so frustrated when I know for a fact that I did not miss a step, yet the balance board will register it as a miss-step.  I have been experimenting with each step that I take, and have come to the conclusion that if I step on my board gently (as if stepping on cotton and not wanting to fall through), as opposed to how I would do so on a normal "step" from step class (I was very aggressive in Step class-  I loved it!!)... and then whether you are either going to also step with your other foot or just lift your knee up, just put a slight little bounce to it, as if doing a mini-squat (I feel this one in my thighs and tushy!)... I will get a "perfect" step roughly 7 out of 10 times.

Day 9 Weight:            171.1 lbs.
Day 10 Weight:          171.1 lbs.
Weight Lost:                 0.0 lbs.
Weight Lost To Date:      5.3 lbs.
Weight Left to Loose:   10.4 lbs.

Wii Fit Age:  53 years old (that darn prediction test!)
Today's Exercise:  This morning I worked out for one hour and forty-seven minutes of exercise.
My workout included: 2Run - Island Lap(w/ 2.5lb. weights) - 177%Advance Step (w/2.5lb. weights) 8x's; Rhythm Boxing - Expert 1066pts; Free Step 30 minutes- 2,986 stepsand finished it off with Penguin Slide (at Calley's insistence, although I was so "done" .
Burned 908 calories - the equivalent of 6-8 pieces of fried shrimp (455 calories) and 3oz of chocolate milk (455 calories).  The calories burned include calories burned with activity outside of wii recorded in my Activity Log.
Water Intake:  5 - 16oz bottles of water

Breakfast:  Triple Berry-Banana Smoothie
Snack:  -
Lunch:   cup of leak soup
Snack:   celery stick
Dinner:  Salad with 3oz. chicken and a half of cup of corn

Today's Summary:  No weight loss or gain- which is better than gaining at this point...  It only means that my body may be in shock and getting used to the new routine... However, tomorrow is another day and I will continue to work harder!!!

Tomorrow Goal's:  I am going to continue on the path I am on, however my workout will be a little more intense.

Cooking Tip of the Day:  American Heart Association says that we should preserve the nutrients and colors in veggies. Cook them quickly by steaming or stir-frying.

Health Tip of the Day:  Laughter makes you feel good. Don't be afraid to laugh out loud at a joke, a funny movie or a comic strip, even when you're alone.  It's a great way to release stress!

Day 9 ~ Even at a Standstill, I Will Not Loose My Motivation!

Today's Thoughts:  I am hoping to make this week really count.  Why? You ask... well next week, we will see how I can keep this going while away from home.  Oh, don't get the wrong idea, I will not go off of "my" wagon.  We will put to test how it will be possible for me to finish my 21 day challenge while away from home.  No worries.  I will still eat healthy and exercise with my wii.  It will just be a little more challenging.

wii Fit Plus Tip of the Day:  When working out with your balance board, especially when doing Step exercises, be sure to step on the board gingerly... you will get more perfect steps this way.

Tomorrow Goal's:  I am going to continue on the path I am on, however my workout will be a little more intense.

Cooking Tip of the Day:  Use olive oil for cooking when appropriate. It adds to the taste of the dish and is better for you.

Health Tip of the Day:  Maintain a balanced lifestyle. There should be a balance between your work time and your leisure time. Remind yourself, “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.” All work and no play can also make Jane a dull girl as well.  ;)

Day 8 ~ Supplements, My "Other" Personal Assistant

Today's Thoughts:  Okay, seems like I am gaining weight these past two days.  I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but somehow I do not seem to think this is the reason why.  It's not that I feel off the wagon- I stuck to my diet with the exception of one beer.  Hmmmm.  I really do not think that's going to do it.  Well, it is giving me motivation to workout harder tomorrow.
Now, the one other thing that is different in my routine in the last two days is that I have incorporated four new dietary supplements.  Could that be it?  Hmmmm. Honestly, I do not see how...Supplements are made to provide those nutrients that may be missing from your diet.  They are made to assist what you eat... like a personal assistant for your diet. However, let's wait and see what happens. Now, let me add that supplements are just that... they are NOT intended to replace food 100%.

Calley's drawing of Mommy working out
wii Fit Plus Tip of the Day:  Don't forget to incorporate you daily activities or training outside of wii Fit Plus routines into your wii Activity Log - calories and credits are added to what you earned working out.  In Graph under Fit Credits, select Activity Log.  You can log activities such as yard work, cooking and cleaning.  However, you can only do it the day of your activity- you can't go back and enter for the previous day's activities.
Day 7 Weight:            170.0 lbs.
Day 8 Weight:            171.1 lbs.
Weight Lost:           +1.1 lbs. :(  I will not let this discourage me!! I will work harder tomorrow!
Weight Lost To Date:      5.3 lbs.
Weight Left to Loose:   10.4 lbs.
Wii Fit Age:  52 years old (yikes!)
Today's Exercise:  This morning I worked out for one hour and a half of exercise.
Added a 3" lift to  my Balance Board
My workout included: 2P Run - Island Lap (w/ 2.5lb. weights) - 253%; Advance Step (w/ 2.5lb. weights) 10x's; My wii Fit Plus Routines:  Health/Tummy- Jack Knife; Single Leg Twist; Snowball Fight; Overindulged- Basic Run 161%; Rhythm Boxing; Lunges; Leaner mii: Hula Hoop; Island Cycling- Island View Course .901 miles; Skating Arena; Form- Arms; Rhythm Kung Fu; Tricep Extensions; Balance Bridge; and finished it off with Penguin Slide (at Calley's request.

Water Intake:  6 - 16oz bottles of water

Breakfast:  Triple Berry Banana Smoothie
Snack:  -
Lunch:  cup of spicy tuna salad, with Gluten Free Multi Grain Crackers and water.
Snack:  -
Dinner:  4oz. Grilled Chicken, half of a cup of Basmati Rice and a cup of Garbanzo bean salad with water.

Today's Summary:  I gained 1.1 pounds, but that's ok.  Tomorrow is another day and I will work harder!!!

Supplements:  Let me start by saying this:  I am not making any money off of mentioning Nutrilite in my blog, I wish.  I have added this information to my blog as "full disclosure" as to what I am doing to loose weight.
As mentioned in Day 35 of my other blog, "Taking My Life Back - Making It My Own," my mother-in-law's business is gifting me all my supplements.  I take Nutrilite products for several reasons.  First, they have been around for over 75 years. Secondly, they are the only brand to grow, harvest and process plants on its own organic farms (for over 75 years).  Lastly, they have Stanford behind them, as well as their own scientists that are always testing what plant combinations are best for us.
I am taking the following:  (this is my routine, some people take their vitamins at night.  I on the other hand, find it best to do so in the morning that way I do not forget.)
Rhodiola 110 Supplement- For energy.  I take two every morning (no matter what). I love this supplement!!!  It energizes you all day, and you never get the shakes from it.
Invisifiber- For fiber and the "full" feeling.  Every morning I sprinkle this on my breakfast or into my smoothie.  You can also just mix it with juice or water.  I forgot to take it one day and that day I had the "hungry" feeling throughout the day.  And never mind that it keeps you really regular.  ;)
Double X- A multi-vitamin, multi-mineral and phytonutrient supplement.  Excellent source of energy as well.  This needs to be taken on a full stomach.
The previous supplements I take no matter what, now the following supplements are to assist me in weight loss plan.
Slimmetry-  Boost weight loss efforts.  I take two 20-30 minutes before meals.
Glucose Health- Boosts your metabolism.  I take one 30-40 minutes before my meal with a full glass of water.
Carb Blocker 2-  (The best for last) Block up to 500 calories per high-carb meal!  YES!! 500 calories!!  I take anywhere from one to three with a carbohydrate containing meal.
Tomorrow Goal's:  I am going to continue on the path I am on, however my workout will be a little more intense.

Cooking Tip of the Day:  When cooking a dish with both vegetables and meat (i.e. in stir frys    and stews), reduce the amount of meat by 1/3 and increase the amount of vegetables by 1/3. You will hardly notice!

Health Tip of the Day:  Green tea can boost your health in some pretty amazing ways. First of all, you need to know that it comes well recommended. The Chinese have been drinking this beverage for thousands of years -- giving it a long and proven history as a health remedy.
